George and Avril
13/02/08 11:52
Today Dom, Roald & I met up with Wendy and Terry
to welcome Wendy's brother George and his wife Avril
to Melbourne. They arrived this morning and head off
tonight. They are on a cruise to celebrate their 50th
wedding anniversary. It was wonderful to meet them.
It was the first time anyone from Wendy's family has
visited her in Australia, so it was a pretty special
day for her too.
We took a family photo this morning to give to George and Avril.
Today is also Ron's birthday. He would have been 88. Funny, I still think of him every day and I wish he would have been around to celebrate his birthday. I miss him.

Visiting the Health Care Nurse

Roald had his 2 week assessment today and passed with
flying colours! He now weighs 3.655 kilos, a gain of
345 grams from last week. He has grown 2 cms to 53
cms and head has also grown 2 cms to 37 cms (growth
from birth).
Roald didn't like getting all his gear off and had a big wee all over the scales and the nurse's office.
On a side note, my rooster crowed for the first time ever today. If he keeps this up, it will be harder to pretend that he's a chicken!
Anne, Felix still knows how to smile just like you taught him.

Poor little Wriggs

I moved to Melbourne on 31 January 1993 and one of
the first things I got was a beautiful little kitten.
I named her Iina and she was just a darling. Iina was
my friend in times of extreme loneliness. Those first
years apart from my family were difficult, but she
was always there for me. When I moved to Prahran,
Iina couldn't handle being an indoor city cat. So
Tara and Todd agreed to take her in and she has been
with them for the last 12 years and has never wanted
for anything.
Poor little Iina died today and I am incredibly sad.
Picture of Iina the beautiful old girl. Unfortunately she was young before digital cameras were around, so all my photos of her young are on film.

I have had two sleepins!

How lovely, I have had a sleepin both yesterday and
today. It's amazing how good sleep is. Dom came in
and took Roald at 7am on both mornings and looked
after him while I just slept and slept and slept. I
feel so much better now. And to top things off, when
I did wake up there was hazelnut coffee waiting for
me. I have such a good husband. I feel a bit guilty
though that he had to get up early on both mornings
when he has to work all week...
Roald is now about the same weight as Max and Felix were when they were born ie around 3.5 kilos. And he looks so big. He is starting to have a little bit of awake time during the day. This is good as it seems that we are both on the same timezone. He is especially interested in faces and reacts to my voice. At the moment he is asleep in his pram outside under the birch tree. It seems to be the favorite spot.
I am just having a quick break to feed the boys and then I am back to cleaning the cubby house. During the floods in December, I had to use it as the chickens refuge so needless to say it is pretty gross inside. I need to disinfect everything, including bikes and all toys.
The boys with Roald.
