Hot day outside. 34 today. But lucky we have the new roof and insulation so inside temperature is only 25. Quite the difference a white roof makes. Roald is sleeping outside under his tree. I've stripped him back and taken off all blankets and he seems quite content.

Last week I bought a cookbook by Jessica Seinfeld (Jerry Seinfeld's wife). It has the best recipes in it. I made chocolate brownies (Outi - suklaajuttu) yesterday and they turned out so yummy. Max loved them (and for the record so did Dom, Gavin, Caroline and yours truly). The best thing was that they contain pureed carrot and pureed spinach! So Max didn't even know that they were healthy and he was eating his veggies.



Yesterday was my grandmother's funeral. I spoke to my mum and Esko and apparently all went well. It's at times like these that you really feel that you are far far away. I wish sometimes that Australia could be somewhere in Europe.

Wendy and Terry are driving up to Sydney today to say bye to Alex. He heads off soon to Moscow to live for a while.
